My family and I have been travelling around Europe for the past two months, and will be visiting Croatia for three weeks starting on Saturday. In every city we visit, we try to connect with gamers to play a game or two - or more .

We are flying into Pula, and will be staying nearby. Could someone recommend any gaming opportunities there, or how I could get in touch with any local gamers? Are there other nearby gaming communities I should be aware of?

We are mainly positioned in Zagreb, so I can tell you where we are gaming.
If you'll visit Zagreb over some weekend, you can consult our Scheduler on the main site (http://igranje.hr - beneath Croatian games widget on the right side of site).
Usually, we are gaiming every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in our playroom at Bogoviceva 1, Zagreb (see this link )

Your only opportunity in Pula, that I know of, would be Zaigrana Koza (eng. Playful Goat). You can try to contact someone on their facebook profile or on the forums. There's even an English-only subforum you can post in.
